The Alex Festival

June 23rd, 2009

If you are into country music, there will be a free concert this Sunday, June 28. Soooo grab you foflding chairs or blanket and head out to the Jim Warren Park in Franklin, Tennessee (2 - 9 p.m.).There will be activities for kids including game booths, music (their brand), skateboarding, skateboard demonstrations, etc. Headlined by Jeffrey Steele, Country Music Hall of Fame member, other performers will include American Bang, LoCash Cowboys, Ricky Young & Red White Blue, and Pearl Harbor.

I attended last year’s festival and had a wonderful time. Living in Middle Tennessee, home of country music, does have its perks. Where else could you be sitting in a public park enjoying the music and Billy Cyrus just drops by to sing a few songs and then a short time later Miley Cyrus (Hannah Montana) shows up.

The festival is held in memory of Jeffrey’s son, Alex LeVesseur, who died in an ATV accident. Money raised during the festival goes to Alex LeVesseur Memorial Fund through The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee to help underprivileged children with a passion for skatboarding to improve self-esteem, grades, and become involved in community service.

There is a great article describing the cause and festival at www.williamsonherald.com. It is the first article with a picture of Stephanie LeVesseur, Alex’s mom, titled Tragedy into Hope.

Hope to see you there!

A Trip To The Beach

June 5th, 2009

I traveled to Tallahassee Florida in April for my niece’s wedding which was absolutely lovely. Then I took a short trip with one of my sons and his family to the Emerald Coast beach area. He lives in Texas and his children had never seen the beach. What a treat for me to share this experience. It had stormed on our way from Tallahassee so the waves were unusually big for the gulf. We even saw a few surfers. Marcus (8) and Gil (4) loved the water and waves. Emerald (3) didn’t like sand on her feet nor the waves – she preferred the pool. Gil and I made a big sand castle. In the evening we walked up the beach enjoying the beautiful sunset and gentle breeze. Pictures are from Rosemary Beach.

This area has some of the most beautiful beaches I have seen. It is especially nice because it is not commercialized like Panama Beach or Pensacola Beach. The Emerald Coast is made up of a number of small beach communities each with its own unique living and architectural style. One can find the perfect vacation retreat, retirement location, or even permanent residence. If you are interested in Florida beach living, Murfreesboro and Middle Tennessee residents are especially lucky because Bob Parks Realty has a sister company, Premier Property Group, located in Seacrest Beach. The agents there will provide the same professional trusted services you are accustomed to at home. You can preview listings at http://www.thepremierpropertygroup.com

Do you remember when Chesney’s and The Parthenon were about the only “fancy” restaurants in Murfreesboro? Haven’t things changed! I had a wonderful dining experience at Murfreesboro’s newest Asian restaurant, Cathay Asian Bistro on Church Street (Hwy 231). I ordered the Chicken and Vegetable Tempura dinner which included Miso soup and salad for starters, steamed rice (which I prefer), and a beautifully presented plate of chicken and vegetables. Their Jasmine tea was also very good. My server was friendly and checked to see if I needed anything. A couple nearby sat at the Sushi/Sasimi Bar. The creations they had looked beautiful. The restaurant also features hibachi dining. Although not required, I would probably make reservations for the hibachi tables. For more information and menu, visit www.CathayAsianBistro.com.

Dee's Profile

Working in real estate has been extremely gratifying, especially when a client wrote: “Dee was very professional and is a great person. We would work with her again, & definitely recommend her!”

I began selling real estate in 2006, choosing Bob Parks because of the company reputation and, more importantly, the service I received when I bought my Murfreesboro home. Through continuing education I received the designation of ABR (Accredited Buyer Representative). I am a member of:

        * National Association of Realtors
        * Tennessee Association of Realtors
        * Middle Tennessee Association of Realtors

I have made Murfreesboro my home since 2001 after moving from east Tennessee to teach at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU). The College of Business was my university home where I taught Entrepreneurship, Marketing Education teacher certification, and other business courses. Prior to this I taught high school Marketing Education for 20+ years. In addition to teaching, I was co-owner in several businesses until moving to Murfreesboro.

I graduated from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville with a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, a Master’s degree in Marketing Education, and a Ph.D. in Human Ecology with an emphasis in both Technological & Adult Education and Curriculum Development.

I am most proud of my family. I have twin sons who are married as well as seven grandchildren. Needless to say, GRANDCHILDREN RULE!

Helping others reach their dreams has been an integral part of my life both professionally and personally. Professional, Committed, Working for YOU is my motto and I look forward to working with you.
