Divorce is one of  the  most emotional and  stressful  of life experiences.  It is little wonder that individuals going through this experience tend to overlook or misunderstand any number of real estate- related matters.  For example, exactly what a “quitclaim deed” accomplishes;  what can happen  to the credit status of either or both when both parties remain on a mortgage, as well as the condition of the home and likelihood of  major repairs and the effect this can have on the financial status of the person who retains ownership of that property.
